SDAC Announces Anticapitalathon (TM) Games

From April 23rd through 25th, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the
World Bank (WB) will hold their annual spring meetings in Washington, DC.
The IMF/WB are responsible for saddling struggling economies with
unmanageable debt, driving billions into deeper poverty through the
imposition of (badly misnamed) “poverty reduction” programs, and
threatening countries who refuse to follow their austerity programs with
economic blacklisting and isolation.

Fortunately, none of that matters to us anymore. The Self Described
Anarchist Collective (SDAC) has decided to abandon tiresome activism, and
instead become filthy rich through the creation of the Anticapitalathon
(TM) Games. The Anticapitalathon (TM) Games are not meant to protest the
worldwide destruction wrought by global capital, and we certainly have no
intention of showing solidarity with those affected by IMF policies.

The Anticapitalathon (TM) Games are being held at the same time and place
as the spring WB/IMF meetings– not to highlight the connection between
neoliberalism and economic misery, but to scam free publicity for our
budding sports empire.

In that spirit, we make the following suggestions concerning athletic
equipment: there will be no need for gas masks or goggles, and helmets and
reinforced banners will only slow you down. Don’t bother with masks;
after all, you can’t become a famous extreme athlete if nobody knows who
you are, right? Our friends at the DC Metropolitan Police Department,
sports fans all, will surely be too enthralled by our acrobatic grace and
athletic prowess to do anything so antisocial as actually arrest anyone.
However, if your paranoia overcomes your competitive instincts, wear as
much armor as you like, we won’t stop you.

The Anticapitalathon (TM) will be a dramatic weekend of games, scavenger
hunts and walking tours of the opulent downtown neighborhoods of the
empire’s capital.

So bring a team or come as a solo competitor to DC in April. Homemade
prizes, delicious food and radical levels of fun are sure to follow!

AmRen Canceled – This Time We Really Mean It

SDAC would like to throw a power fist to everyone that called hotels, demanded cancellations and announced boycotts; to everyone that refused to allow the racist organization, American Renaissance, to have the street or a conference room.

The American Renaissance conference has been officially canceled, according to the organization’s own website and the hotel that was going to host the bigots. The American Renaissance tried to organize, but the power of a collective campaign forced four different hotels to cancel their contract.

On the afternoon of February 16, 2010, after announcing that he had canceled the biennial conference, American Renaissance president Jared Taylor sent an e-mail to his supporters saying that the conference was relocated, this time to the Capitol Skyline hotel in Washington, DC. The Self Described Anarchist Collective responded by sending a call asking for individuals to contact the hotel and share their concerns. Countless activists responded. By 7 pm on February 17th, 2010, it was confirmed that the Capitol Skyline pulled the plug on their contract with American Renaissance and canceled the conference. More proof that direct action gets the goods!

This was posted to the AmRen website and sent to conference registrants around 7 pm on February 17, 2010:

“Dear AR Conference Registrant,

We regret to inform you that at 6:30 pm today, February 17, the Capitol Skyline hotel, which had promised to withstand pressure, canceled the conference. We informed the hotel of all circumstances surround the previous cancellations, including death threats, and the hotel still agreed to hold the conference.

We had every reason to believe it would hold firm. We feel just as betrayed as you do.

We will be in touch later to discuss how to handle refunds of conference registrations and other matters.

American Renaissance attempts to infect mainstream discourse by spewing pseudo-scientific jargon and by organizing respectable-sounding conferences. Regardless of the guise in which it arrives, racism is racism, and it should not be tolerated.

This cancellation prevents the organization from claiming mainstream legitimacy. American Renaissance is comprised of racists and no quantity of college degrees and “academic” studies will change that.

This is a fight to protect our communities and friends from those that would divide and segregate us. This is about the possibility of being able to live in a world with those around us.

SDAC’s Press Release Concerning the American Renaissance Conference

For Immediate Release

Anti-Fascists Call for Action Against the Capital Skyline Hotel for Hosting
the White Nationalist American Renaissance Conference

Washington, D.C. – February, 17, 2010 – The Self Described Anarchist
Collective (SDAC) calls on those who want to take a stand against racism to
call the Capitol Skyline hotel in Washington, D.C. and protest their
decision to host the white nationalist American Renaissance conference.

The American Renaissance, published by white supremacist Jared Taylor, is a
newsletter that promotes pseudo-scientific research, which argues that
non-whites are both genetically and morally inferior to whites.

The American Renaissance conference, officially organized by the racist
non-profit organization the New Century Foundation, is a conference held
every other year to organize people in the neo-Nazi and white nationalist
movements.

“Fascists and white nationalists attack people in our communities all the
time,” said a member of the Self Described Anarchist Collective, who wishes
to remain anonymous.

“To fight against fascism is to fight for safe streets and safe communities
where people are allowed to express themselves without fear of reprisal.
Anti-fascism is community self defense.”

Through the efforts of anti-fascists around the United States, American
Renaissance has had their contract canceled by three separate hotels: the
Dulles Airport Marriott, the Dulles Airport Westin Inn and the Four Points
by Sheraton Manassas Battlefield. After announcing that they were
canceling the event at the Four Points hotel, the organization announced
on February 16 that they would be conducting the conference at the Capitol
Skyline hotel in Washington, D.C.

In response, the Self Described Anarchist Collective is asking people to
take a stand against fascism and to call the Capitol Skyline and inform the
hotel that they will be boycotting the Capitol Skyline unless it cancels the
American Renaissance conference.

*Some Information on the American Renaissance Conference*
American Renaissance, published by white supremacist Jared Taylor, is a
newsletter that promotes pseudo-scientific research which argues that
non-whites are both genetically and morally inferior to whites.

Previous attendees include Ku Klux Klan members (including former leader
David Duke), neo-Nazis (such as Don Black), holocaust deniers, hard line
anti-immigration activists and other ideologues promoting racial hatred.

The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) writes that the American Renaissance
“promotes their views by attacking racial, ethnic, and religious diversity,
which they call ‘one of the most divisive forces on the planet’ and
therefore ‘dangerous’” and that, “many of North America’s leading
intellectual racists have written for American Renaissance or have addressed
the biennial American Renaissance conferences.”

*Who is Supposed to be at the Conference This Year?*
The keynote speaker of the conference this year was scheduled to be Nick
Griffin, head of the British National Party (BNP) and member of the
European Parliament. His attendance at the conference is troubling, as he
is expected to be placed in jail soon for violating a court order in the
U.K. to open the membership of his political party to non-whites by
January 28, 2010.

Griffin is not a stranger to jail. In 1996 he served a nine-month sentence
after he was found guilty of “publishing material likely to incite racial
hatred.” Griffin’s speaking engagement in DC is even more disturbing because
James Von Brunn, the neo-Nazi who shot and killed a security guard at the
Holocaust Museum in June 2009, was a member of the American Friends of the
BNP, and had been at events where Griffin spoke. Griffin is also notable for
his anti-Semitism, and has referred to the Holocaust as the “Holohoax.”

But due to the three different cancellations of American Renaissance, the
cancellation of his scheduled speech at Kenyon College and also his
scheduled address at Michigan State University, organized by racist
student organization the Sons of Liberty, he has decided to cancel his entire trip
to the United States. By political pressure we have made it clear, across
an ocean, that racism is unacceptable!

*Other Speakers Include:*
Jared Taylor, the head of American Renaissance, who argues that blacks
are “more psychopathic than whites.” In an article about Hurricane Katrina,
he wrote: “when blacks are left entirely to their own devices, Western
Civilization—any kind of civilization—disappears. And in a crisis,
civilization disappears overnight.”

Dan Roodt, head of the white supremacist organization Pro-Afrikaans Action
Group, who argues that blacks are genetically programmed to commit violent
crime, and wrote in an article on January 13th, 2010 that, “In South Africa,
the white IQ is somewhere around 100 whereas the average black IQ is about
70….Blacks generally prefer parties and festivals because a lot of them
lack the mental ability to excel at such demanding subjects as mathematics
and natural science which require logical reasoning and cognitive ability.”

Wayne Lutton, who is the director of a group which publishes the racist
Occidental Quarterly journal and the anti-Semitic Occidental Observer
magazine.
